According to government health figures, two-thirds of American adults are either overweight or obese. And we know that being overweight often leads to diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease and some cancers. More and more people are determined to get the weight off to feel and look better. Some, who have a body mass index between 35 and 40, consider surgical options to lose the weight. Others turn to a medical weight loss approach.
Norton Weight Management Center adjacent to the Norton Women’s and Kosair Children’s Hospital campus offers both options. Get Healthy’s Jackie Hays caught up with two women who teamed up to fight weight gain through a medical, nonsurgical approach.
